Shaping Race Equality into 2020 - Black Leadership Initiative Alumni Event

The Black Leadership Initiative® (BLI) and the Learning and Skills Improvement Service (LSIS) are calling upon participants who have attended any of our positive action programmes over the last few years to join us on a creative journey which will see us improving Race Equality Practices into 2020.

This half day alumni event, to be held in London on 2nd February 2012, will give us an opportunity to hear the views of delegates on positive action programmes, on their careers in FE and skills and to pave the way for debate, discussion and planning strategies for Race Equality in Britain in 2020. The event will involve presentations, facilitated discussions, personal testimony from previous participants and their organisations and action planning for future development work.

Coverage

The event will provide an opportunity to begin the debate and plan strategies for race equality in Britain in 2020. We would like to hear the experiences of BAME staff, explore ways to build on these experiences to improve race equality practices and work towards developing a collective action plan for addressing race equality into 2020.

Benefits of Attending

  • Contribute to LSIS and BLI’s strategic partnership to develop a strong race equality culture within FE and skills
  • Contribute to the development of some equality and diversity pilots around organisational cultural change
  • Network with others and direct the programme and strategy development for the next ten years

Location, Date and Time

Prospero House ETC Venue, London, SE1 1GA on Thursday 2nd February 2012 from 1.00pm to 4.30pm.

Who Should Attend?

  • Past participants on LSIS and BLI positive action initiatives
  • Senior managers committed to developing effective race equality strategies
  • Organisations that have supported the career and development needs of BAME staff through positive action and other development initiatives.
