We have negotiated a substantial discount for NBP members on registration fees for the BME into Leadership Conference taking place in London on 10th November 2011.
With nearly one in ten civil servants from a minority ethnic background, progress in ensuring a better representation across all management and leadership levels has been slow. Indeed, set against a backdrop of public sector job cuts and recruitment freezes, the modest improvements realised in 2011 may well become disappointing setbacks in 2012. The situation is similar in the wider public sector.
This conference, organised by Westminster Explained, will examine how BME staff in the public sector - at whatever grade – can identify and secure promotion into management and leadership roles.
The conference will provide hands-on advice and coaching tips on how to seize opportunities and develop your career even in difficult times. Delegates will hear from inspirational BME role models from all spheres of public life, both within and outside the public sector.
Confirmed speakers include:
- Sir Gus O'Donnell, Cabinet Secretary & Head of the Home Civil Service
- Lord Victor Adebowale, Chief Executive, Turning Point
- Ruby McGregor-Smith, Chief Executive, Mitie Group
- Paula McDonald, Deputy Director, Cabinet Office
- Sandra Kerr, National Campaign Director, Race for Opportunity
NBP members can book a place at the conference for just £95+VAT instead of the usual £295+VAT.
