Career Development Workshops: Overview To supplement the BLI®’s secondment, shadowing and mentoring programmes, BAME staff can access highly-focused and practical career development workshops. These seek to develop the skills and confidence of participants to achieve progression in their career. Recent workshops have focused on helping individuals develop a range of skills including CV writing, interview, performing in assessment centres, etc.
Programme CoverageNow is a time of change and movement, and challenges and opportunities. Many BAME staff are looking to enhance their career prospects and update their skills. The workshops are for you if you are looking for a new job, reapplying for your existing job, being re-deployed, moving up, or simply if you want to take ownership of your career. The workshops are delivered by a professional team with extensive practice in staff development, including input from highly experienced BAME HR professionals.
Aims
The aim of the workshop is to provide you with the opportunity to stop, reflect and take stock of your current employment situation in order to become more proactive in creating and/or managing your future work and career choices. By the end of the workshop delegates will:
- Have had the opportunity to reflect on your life and career history, choices and pathways.
- Have identified your personal and career values and become aware of their impact on your current quality of work life and future career choices.
- Know and understand how to present yourself effectively to potential recruiters.
- Be aware of the range of selection methods currently in use and be provided with hints on how to improve your performance in the selection process.
- Be provided with a ‘toolkit’ to support the post course actions required to create or maintain momentum towards your career goals and aspirations.
