Aims
A progressive, Social Enterprise that meets the needs and aspirations of Black and minority ethnic (BME) communities.
Objectives
- To establish NBP as the Network for Black professionals to gather and project the views of its members.
- To enhance the quality of the learning experience of black learners through positive teaching and learning strategies,mentoring and role modelling.
- To increase the numbers of Black staff, especially at senior and middle management levels, so that they properly reflect the ethnic diversity of learners in FE colleges, and national, regional and local demographics.
- Professional Development.
- To provide support and guidance to Black professionals and assist them in developing their careers, including:
- Management development opportunities.
- Work Shadowing, mentoring, coaching and placements.
- Advice and support for career advancement.
- Conferences and seminars.
- Setting up a database of members’ areas of expertise.
- Supporting providers in delivering Race Equality, including meeting their legal obligations under the Race Relations (Amendment) Act 2000 and their LSC equality targets.
- Lobbying.
- Dissemination.
- Research.
- Establishing and developing international links.
- Other activities as appropriate.
